Did You Know...

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, claiming more than 340,000 lives each year or nearly 1,000 people each day.

Approximately 95% of these deaths occur before victims can get to a hospital or emergency room.

All victims of SCA require temporary circulatory support with CPR, with roughly half of these requiring defibrillation, which is shocking of the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) doubles a person's chance of surviving from sudden cardiac arrest. The American Heart Association estimates that 100,000 to 200,000 lives per year could be saved if CPR were performed early enough.

Heartsaver First Aid Course

The Heartsaver First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical first minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. The course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult and child emergencies, including choking with adult, infant or child victims.

PediFACTs

All caregivers and teachers should have Pediatric First Aid Training.  The PediFACTs Course is designed to give the education and confidence to effectively care for children.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is an electronic device that can recognize a heart rhythm requiring a shock, then prompt the rescuer to deliver the shock by pressing a button.  read more

Emergency Oxygen Supplement

With the MEDIC FIRST AID Emergency Oxygen Supplement, the trained first aid provider will learn the importance of introducing oxygen as an integral part of the care provided for an ill or injured patient. Supplying emergency oxygen helps meet the ill or injured patient's critical need for oxygen. When illness or injury reduces the body's ability to process oxygen, shock will soon occur, unless the effects of the decreased amount of oxygen in the blood can be reversed.

Bloodborne Pathogens Supplement

The MEDIC FIRST AID Bloodborne Pathogens program is designed to train employees who have a significant health risk of occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious bodily fluids and materials. This training will help employees satisfy training requirements put forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital. In this course you will enhance your skills in the treatment of arrest and peri-arrest patients through active participation in a series of simulated cardiopulmonary cases. These simulations are designed to reinforce important concepts, including:

  • Identification and treatment of medical conditions that place the patient at risk for cardiac arrest

  • The Basic Life Support (BLS) Primary Survey

  • The ACLS Secondary Survey

  • ACLS Algorithms

  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

The goal of the ACLS Provider Course is to improve the quality of care provided to the adult victim of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support beyond basic life support through the stabilization or transport phases of a pediatric emergency, either in or out of hospital. In this course you will enhance your skills in the evaluation and management of an infant or child with respiratory compromise, circulatory compromise, or cardiac arrest.

You will actively participate in a series of simulated core cases. These simulations are designed
to reinforce important concepts, including:

  • Identification and treatment of medical conditions that place the child at risk for cardiac arrest

  • The systematic approach to pediatric assessment, including general assessment, primary assessment, secondary assessment, and tertiary assessment

  • The assess-categorize-decide-act approach to assessment and management of a seriously ill infant or child

  • PALS algorithms and flowcharts

  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

The goal of the PALS Provider Course is to improve the quality of care  provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcome
