Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, claiming more than 340,000 lives each year or nearly 1,000 people each day.
Approximately 95% of these deaths occur before victims can get to a hospital or emergency room.
All victims of SCA require temporary circulatory support with CPR, with roughly half of these requiring defibrillation, shocking of the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm. |
