Did You Know...

One in seven people will have the opportunity to use CPR in their life.

70% of the time, CPR will be done on a family member or close friend.

Each day nearly 1,000 Americans suffer from sudden cardiac arrest - usually away from a hospital. More than 95% of these patients die, in many cases, because life-saving defibrillators arrived on scene too late, if at all.

Brian Leonard, CEO

Brian Leonard founded Code Red with the sole purpose of communicating the benefits of early defibrillation as well as the need for the general public and the workforce to be certified in CPR and First Aid.  Brian has been certified in CPR for over 9 years, an instructor for over 2, and is now an instructor-trainer faculty member for the American Heart Association.  He is also a member of the education committee for the National Association of EMS Educators, a committee member for CR Heart, and on the board of directors for the Johnson County Early Defib Task Force. He is also on the board of directors for
American Heart association eastern Iowa division.

Brian has spent many years working in Trauma Centers and most recently as an Emergency Medical Technician.  From these experiences, he realized the shortage of automated external defibrillators in public places.  Thus was born Code Red Inc.

Kyle Hill, VP Midwest

Kyle Hill joined Code Red as the Director of Education in 2006. Kyle has been active in the Emergency Medical Services since he was sixteen. He began as a Lifeguard, then became a Ambulance Dispatcher. He completed EMT training, then furthered his education, successfully becoming a Paramedic Specialist. He was then certified by the state of Iowa as an EMS instructor, and taught EMT and Paramedic Courses. Kyle continues to serve as Assistant District Chief of a local EMS service.

Kyle has three instructor certifications through the American Heart Association: Basic Life Support Instructor, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instructor, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor. As director of education for Code Red Kyle is expanding the courses Code Red Offers.

Shaun Kelly, VP West Coast

Shaun started as an American Red Cross lifeguard and swimming instructor in
1995. Shaun became an EMT in 2000 and a paramedic in 2005. Shaun is a BLS instructor and an ACLS instructor. Shaun most recently worked as a paramedic for a hospital based EMS service.
